Walter Raes: Designer of Wearable & Design Art
INSPIRED WEARABLE ART BY WALTER RAES
Once more Walter Raes has stunned the design world with his latest works of wearable art.
Inspired by the Queen of Punk, Vivian Westwood, the Lady Westwood is made from many pairs of Converse trainers & transformed them into a dynamitic waistcoat for the 21st century female punk raver!
A spin of trainers slit open like butterflies with interlocking toes cover the back and rapping around the front grasping the chest, then capping the shoulders with steel spikes.
For more formal wear Walter has sculpted out of plastic shopping bags the Sainsbury’s Prom Dress. Bodice was specially hear-treated & moulded to the mannequin. Any prom queen from that earlier era, or a real retro girl from today, would love this frock.
Even edgier & provocative number is the Call Girl, a woven telecommunication wonder- bodice with matching dial telephone hat. The Call Girl bodice was painstakingly fashioned by Walter striping 200 meters of British Telephone cable for the coloured inner core cable.
Every inch creatively woven by Walter, forms the stunning bodice which connects to the 1970’s dial Hat topped by rabbit ears referencing Playboy bunnies & their sexy cotton tails. Walter has placed a wire one here!
